Biography

Thomas P. Peters, II founded the firm in 1983. Before becoming an attorney, Tom was a director of mental health services. His path to law followed studies in English, education, psychology, and counseling, giving him a broad background in working with people.

A graduate of Lewiston High School and Bates College, Tom earned a master’s degree in counseling education from the University of Southern Maine and pursued advanced studies in rural mental health services at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He earned his law degree in 1983.

Tom’s legal career included service as a complaint justice and justice of the peace in Maine. He also served as president of the Androscoggin County Bar Association and on a panel resolving fee disputes between clients and attorneys.

In 2011, Tom was appointed by the Governor to serve as Citizen Representative on the Board of Trustees of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, which is responsible for training and licensing law enforcement officers in Maine.

Now retired, Tom remains of counsel to Peters & Roberge, offering guidance drawn from his years in practice and his knowledge of the firm.
